Pancakes

I think alot of people think making breakfast food is difficult. Perhaps they’re just too busy and would rather just head to Denny’s. I’d like to take a moment and share with you how easy it is to make good pancakes.

Things you’ll need:

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour.
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder.
  • 1 1/4 cups of milk.
  • 1 Tablespoon of sugar.
  • 1 Egg

Tools

  • A hot pan or griddle & some oil (vegetable or olive).
  • Medium size bowl
  • Spatula

Directions

Mix all of the above Ingredients in the bowl until smooth,

the mixture will flow a little bit like melted ice cream, but you don’t want it too thick like pudding or it won’t flow into a circular pancake when you pour it.

If it’s too thick add a little more milk and stir it up again. T Too thick pancakes come out dense, too liquidy pancakes are thin or rip when you flip them because they’re not cooked through in the center.

The secret to good pancakes is a hot surface. Preheat your pan or griddle to medium high and coat it lightly in oil this is what’s going to give you that golden brown surface. If the oil smokes it’s too hot, turn down the heat a bit.

Pour the Pancakes, they should flow into a circle on their own if the mixture is right. now is the time you can throw in chocolate chips, pecans or blueberries if you want.

The pancakes should bubble and steam a bit, after about 4 minutes you should be good to flip them. If they’re too liquidy or under cooked at this point they’re going to rip. Another 2 to 3 minutes cooking after flipping and you should have a solid spongey golden pancake.
